Anyone who knows anything about rock music knows Jimi Hendrix. Purple haze, All Along The Watchtower, Crosstown Traffic, Voodoo Child (Slight Return), the many variations of John Lee Hooker’s Red House, and of course, the incomparable Electric Ladyland album. And those of us who play guitar know that absolutely no one, no one, has ever played it better than Jimi. That’s why any discussion of who is the greatest guitar player of all time has to begin and end with Jimi Hendrix simply because he was better than all that came before and all that followed. Not negotiable. You can take that to the bank.
So now an article appears in the UK Daily Mail, suggesting that the guitar player might have been murdered. This isn’t a new allegation but this one comes from James “Tappy” Wright, a long time roadie for Hendrix. He has now come forward to say that Jimi’s manager, Michael Jeffrey, made a drunken confession that he had murdered the rock star. This confession apparently took place approximately a year after Hendrix’s death. And dear old James is just now coming forward with the story. Why now? Could it be the book he has just published? But that’s the cynic in me talking.
According to the roadie, Michael Jeffrey stuffed pills and poured red wine into Jimi’s mouth, which resulted in him vomiting and aspirating the wine and drowning. This type of aspiration asphyxia is not uncommon in alcohol and drug abuse. Both alcohol and sedatives can cause nausea and vomiting and, when the individual is either very stuporous or in a coma, anything vomited can be inhaled into the lungs and cause death from aspiration. The question here is whether Hendrix fed himself the drugs and wine, which he apparently had a habit of doing, or did someone force them on him. At this late date there is absolutely no way to determine what is the truth.
This brings up an interesting forensic topic. If someone dies from a supposed drug or alcohol overdose, what is most important? The amount of drug in the stomach or that in the bloodstream?
In Jimi’s case. the official cause of death was listed as “barbiturate intoxication and inhalation of vomit.” John Bannister, the surgeon who attempted to save Hendrix when he arrived at the hospital, says that he remembered there was a large amount of red wine in his lungs and his stomach and that to him there was no doubt that Hendrix had drowned in the red wine. The question raised by James Wright is whether this red wine was vomited up from Hendrix’s stomach or, as he claims Jeffrey told him, it was poured down Jimi’s throat.
The kicker here is that apparently Jimi’s blood-alcohol level was very low, indicating that the alcohol in his stomach had been recently consumed. Alcohol absorbs very rapidly from the stomach and into the bloodstream. Anyone who has taken a drink on an empty stomach can vouch for that. The fact that the blood-alcohol level was low means that the Jimi had not consumed the alcohol over a long period of time but rather within an hour, or likely less, before his death. Otherwise one would expect the blood-alcohol level to be higher.
The same can be said for barbiturates, which were also found in Jimi’s case. It is the barbiturate level in the blood stream and not any pills found in the stomach that is important to intoxication. If someone is found dead and has several undissolved barbiturate pills in the stomach and the blood level of barbiturates is low, then the barbiturates were very recently ingested and did not cause the death. On the other hand if the pills in the stomach are dissolved or if none are found and the level of barbiturate in the blood is high, then indeed a barbiturate overdose could be the cause of death. I could find no official autopsy report on Hendrix but only many allusions to the fact that he had taken a large dose of barbiturates. Whether this was from finding pills in his stomach or from finding high barbiturate blood levels is unclear and this is very important.
So the answer to the questions I posed early is the alcohol or barbiturates in the bloodstream that is important. One cannot get intoxicated from alcohol or drugs in the stomach but rather only from those that have absorbed into the bloodstream. Alcohol and drugs in the stomach cannot affect the brain whereas those in the bloodstream do. So if Jimi was not severely intoxicated, the question is why did he vomit and aspirate wine? The unknown here is what his blood barbiturate level was. If this was low, then a case for homicide, as Wright claims, could be made. But if it was high, high enough to cause nausea and vomiting, high enough to make Jimi stuporous and subject to aspiration, then he might very well have overdosed on barbiturates. It is possible he could have consumed a massive amount of wine just before he became stuporous and then aspirated this wine into his lungs and drowned. We may never know what the truth is but I surely wish people would let James Marshall Hendrix rest and simply listen to all of his wonderful music.

This raises a few questions with me: does a coroner have any history of the deceased prior to autopsy, or do they just call ’em as they see ’em? Do they always do the full work-up (blood, stomach contents, etc), no matter what?

During any death investigation, the coroner must answer 3 basic questions: the time, cause, and manner of death. He will do whatever he needs to answer these questions. He can interview anyone and has subpoena power to do so if they are reluctant. He will review police, hospital, and any other records he deems necessary–again with subpoena power to do so. He might or might not perform an autopsy and can do a complete or partial one—it’s his call. A partial might be only a look at one area of the body—such as only the head in someone who dies from a gunshot to the head, for example, if he believes that is all he needs to answer the questions and write his official report. He can order toxicological or DNA testing if he needs to—or not if feels those tests are not needed in any given situation. As you can see, the coroner or ME can do whatever he wants or whatever he thinks he needs.

The autopsy information is not available to the public but the relevant information is provided in Henderson’s ‘Scuse Me While I Kiss The Sky’. Jimi Hendrix was murdered by waterboarding, there’s no doubt about it from the forensics.
Hendrix’s barbiturate blood level was recorded at the autopsy as being 3.9 milligrams percent of blood. I assume this accurately reflects the 9 Vesparax pills taken by Hendrix. To say there’s isn’t enough autopsy information to make any conclusions is erroneous in my opinion. I believe the necessary forensic conclusions that can be drawn from the autopsy information are being deliberately suppressed by the governments involved.
Since the autopsy detected a 3.9mg barbiturate blood level I think we can assume Hendrix had time to absorb the barbiturate to that level. This makes the manager’s alleged claim that he “stuffed pills down Hendrix’s throat followed by wine” false. Obviously it would have taken a time period for the blood to absorb the barbiturate to the 3.9mg level. And if Hendrix had been murdered the way being claimed the sleeping tablets would have still been intact in his stomach after he was drowned. So there’s something wrong with that “confession”.
What we need to know is what is the exact absorption rate for Vesparax in order to reach the 3.9mg blood level? Jimi had called his New York doctor to consult him on his insomnia. He told that doctor that there were some ‘Tuinols’ there at Dannemann’s flat. So we can reasonably assume Hendrix took the Vesparax on his own before he was waterboarded. I personally think the super-strong Vesparax were placed into Dannemann’s apartment intentionally as part of a covert assassination plot – but that’s a much longer post.
The reason there is reasonable forensic proof for murder is because the 3.9mg blood level of Vesparax, though not a lethal dose, was a knock-out dose. Therefore Hendrix could not have administered the wine into himself while passed-out on barbiturates. This is conclusive forensic evidence of murder because it means someone else had to fill Jimi’s stomach and lungs with “bottles worth” of wine as Doctor Bannister witnessed.
Additionally, the blood alcohol content was recorded as 5 milligrams per 100 milliliters. That equals about two glasses of wine. So that also constitutes conclusive forensic evidence for murder because you can’t have “bottles worth” of wine in your body and only register a 5mg/100ml blood alcohol content. Literally, the only way for this forensic pattern to occur is if the victim was drowned in wine, which is otherwise known as “waterboarding”.
So some might say that Hendrix chugged bottles of wine earlier and then passed-out and vomited. But 1) Hendrix was known by his friends as someone who just didn’t do things like that. and 2) That would have necessarily, medically, required the body to register a high blood alcohol level. Once you observe large amounts of wine flooding the stomach and lungs and a relatively low blood alcohol content the forensic necessarily indicates waterboarding.
But the criminal forensic evidence that cinches this is the pure wine seen on the bed and clothes and saturating Hendrix’s hair. Jimi could not have vomited out pure wine. It would have to have been polluted by the vomit. So the presence of pure wine in those positions indicates wine spilled while Hendrix was being waterboarded. Once you consider that the main witness Monika Dannemann had all her stories disproven, you have to conclude Hendrix was waterboarded with wine in order to make it appear as an accidental drug overdose. And don’t forget that the way Hendrix was positioned on the bed it would have been impossible for any wine, pure or impure, to flow uphill and against gravity and up and into his hair.
Hendrix’s manager Michael Jeffery was a British Intelligence MI-5 agent. They were trained in such things. The evidence is clear and condemning since, in 1970, they were the only people who practiced this sort of method. It’s more than clear that this blazing criminal forensic evidence is being suppressed by the governments that murdered him.

I should add that the coroner found undigested rice in Hendrix’s stomach. He said it takes around 4 hours for the stomach to clear its contents. Hendrix was witnessed eating that rice between 11pm and midnight. So that put the time of death between 3-4am – somewhere near the time Dannemann drove him back to her flat.
What is critical here is we need to know the reasonable assumption for the amount of time it would have taken for Hendrix to reach the 3.9mg barbiturate blood level? With the purpose of establishing Jimi taking the Vesparax on his own and becoming incapacitated by them and then being waterboarded when he was unable to react. But forensics should always deal with facts and not theory so we should just find out the absorption rate and what condition Hendrix would have reasonably been in.
To narrow down the forensic pathology here we should reduce this to the main determining forensic factors. There’s a graph here with three main axis’s. The first axis is the absorption rate of the barbiturate. The next axis is the blood absorption rate of the alcohol in the wine. And the final axis is the rate of digestion of the rice. The convergence of these three main forensic factors will tell you a lot about how and when Hendrix died. This would be the main forensic formula by which any legal case would be made. There are those who would try to say those rates vary too much to make any firm conclusions, but I disagree and think they show enough to prove legal evidence for murder. Those forensics, of course, would be directly related to the stomach and lungs being full of wine as witnessed by Doctor Bannister.
There’s another thing that should be mentioned. Hendrix was seen leaving the last party Dannemann picked him up at with two opened bottles of wine. Dannemann herself told of having another two bottles of wine at her flat. So we can determine there were possibly at least four bottles of wine at the death scene. As far as I know no one was on record to describe the state of those bottles after Hendrix expired.
Since the authorities refuse to re-open the case I think the best move from here is a show trial where all the evidence and witnesses are presented by known credible legal experts and attorneys.

The deeper you look into this the more incriminating it gets.
The autopsy showed a 3.9mg level of barbiturate in Jimi’s blood. We need an expert to tell us exactly how long it would have taken Jimi’s blood level to reach 3.9mg? I think it is being claimed that Jimi took 9 Vesparax, so the determination could be made with 9 tablets as the assumed dose. However it could also be charted for any number of Vesparax capable of inducing a 3.9mg blood level. From general knowledge I’m going to hypothesize a half-hour for the blood to absorb 3.9mg of barbiturate, and maybe even slightly longer with the full stomach of rice Jimi had.
You see the problem with Jeffery’s confession is there wasn’t enough time for Jimi’s blood to absorb 3.9mg of barbiturate if Jeffery “shoved pills down Jimi’s throat followed by wine”. The waterboarding with wine would have killed Jimi within minutes and the pills would have been vomited right back up. So there wouldn’t have been any time or means for Jimi’s blood to have absorbed a 3.9mg barbiturate level. Jimi obviously took the Vesparax tablets on his own a period of time – most liklely a half hour or more – before he died.
Jeffery’s confession now becomes problematic because the scenario he describes involves quickly breaking into Monika’s flat and murdering Hendrix. There’s a problem here though. The autopsy showed that the barbiturate in Hendrix was that of the Vesparax. Blood analysis showed that the barbiturate found in Jimi Hendrix contained the Quinalbarbitone and Brallobarbitone ingredients of the Vesparax and those ingredients alone. Since the autopsy data shows us Jimi ingested the Vesparax for a period of time before he died that means a certain number of Vesparax tablets were inside Jimi before he was drowned in wine. We have reason to believe that number of tablets was fairly high. Jimi was recorded as telling his New York doctor that there were some ‘Tuinols’ at Monika’s flat that he intended to use for his insomnia. So he most likely took a high dose to compensate for his tolerance not realizing he was taking the super-powerful Vesparax. What this means is it is most likely Jimi took most, if not all, of the 9 tablets that were missing from the packet and absorbed them into is blood over a significant period of time before he died.
This contradicts Michael Jeffery’s story because we have now accounted for the pills Jeffery allegedly “shoved down Hendrix’s throat”. But, furthermore, how did Jeffery know there were barbiturates at Monika’s flat? According to the forensic scenario Jeffery would have had to fumble around and search the bathroom for the Vesparax and luckily find them. This is quite different from the account given in the ‘confession’ where Jeffery broke-in and quickly murdered Hendrix. Also, there were no signs of any forced-entry at Monika’s flat. When you consider all these things it’s becoming hard to avoid some serious evidence of complicity arising here. And it becomes more likely Jeffery either had a key or was let-in to the flat. The whole thing starts to look more like an intelligence operation where those super-strong Vesparax tablets were deliberately introduced into Hendrix’s environment in order to have him incapacitated by the time the waterboarding crew arrived. Surely if Jeffery was that shrewd of an MI-5 operator he would have known that any pills shoved down Hendrix’s throat and then vomited right back up would be incriminating.
At minimum we have the forensic evidence disproving both Dannemann’s and Jeffery’s stories. And the failures in Jeffery’s story very definitely point towards a larger more complex conspiracy of the type you would expect with an intelligence assassination.

The only truth is that Jimi is gone and we are left with a huge hole in the blues world. Imagine him now, in his 60s, at the peak of his unique and amazing abilities. If only.

My friends dad was a policeman called to the scene that morning. I had a conversation with him in the mid eighties. He told me Jimi was dead when he arrived on the scene. I asked how he looked and he said ‘grey’….as in he had obviously been dead for some time.

Your friend’s father was required by law to declare the scene a crime scene and do routine investigation. The word is well-out in England, including Kathy Etchingham, that Jimi was discriminated against because he was black and didn’t have the usual crime scene rules applied to him because of paper work. They thought he was another black overdose victim and gave him the short route.
I disagree that we will never know. It’s pretty much clear that the policeman found Jimi dead because he had been waterboarded to death with wine and barbiturates as confessed by Jeffery. Monika gave a false version because if she told the truth it would lead to further investigation that would uncover the fact Jimi was murdered. I’ve been studying this for a year. I’m fairly convinced Monika knew Jimi was waterboarded to death by Jeffery and was only interested in covering herself afterwards to prevent being harmed herself. Perhaps that harm finally arrived when she died in 1996. Monika was either a witting or unwitting intelligence infiltrator deliberately placed with Jimi – or a hapless victim who was overwhelmed by it all and stayed quiet.
Two days after Jimi’s murder Sharon Lawrence called Monika and asked her about the wine. Monika responded by moaning and whining in a highly stressed way. She then conceded “Jimi was a mess” and that she washed ‘sick’ off Jimi’s face with wine. However, in her statement to the official Inquest she said “Jimi only had a trickle of vomit running from his mouth to his chin.” The reason she was trying to minimize the vomit is because if she told the truth about the “horrific” vomit witnessed by the ambulance men she would have no excuse for not noticing it and reacting to it, as she was supposedly sleeping right next to Jimi at the time. So you can’t have Jimi “a mess” and needing vomit washed off his face with wine and having only a trickle of vomit at the same time – but that’s what Monika did and what she got away with for decades. But let’s be smart here, nobody washes anyone’s face with wine. Monika said that because she was aware Jimi had been murdered by waterboarding with wine and needed to think of a quick excuse while under pressure. She abruptly changed the subject and Lawrence never spoke to her about it again. The ambulance men found Jimi covered in grotesque amounts of vomit “from his shoulders up”. He was obviously still in the same position he died in. The reason this is condemning is because it shows no one tried to roll him over, slap the vomit from his throat, or resuscitate him. And the reason for that was because all those who encountered him that morning knew he was dead. I suspect Monika and Burdon knew the real reason. So the reason Jimi was left dead for hours was because not only were drugs being cleaned out of the flat but murder evidence too. Jimi’s crew men were mostly interested in cleaning any phone messages or notes out of the flat.
If Tappy Wright were to be given an expert lie detector test it would show he heard Jeffery mention waterboarding with wine in 1973. Since Doctor Bannister mentioned witnessing lungs drowned with wine in 1990 that means he couldn’t have possibly gotten that information from Wright who came out with his witnessing in 2009. And Wright couldn’t have gotten it from Bannister because the polygraph would show he heard it in 1973. Therefore you would have cross verification from two separate and independent sources that would constitute legal evidence.
Interestingly, 1 month after Jeffery confessed to Wright he ended up dead in a strange mid-air crash. He was on that Iberia Airlines flight because he was going to Majorca to help solve some electrical lighting problems in his nightclub he had been called to. It sounds to me like he was lured on to that flight. Intelligence agencies or rogue groups are the only ones capable of creating the French Air Traffic Controllers strike that caused the French military to take over French air traffic that day. And they are the only ones possessing the technology capable of causing two planes to fly into each other.
To this day official sources get away with the murder of saying Jimi died from a drug overdose.

The British Government is shutting down it’s Forensic Science Service sighting a lack of funds as the reason for this action.The impending release of Ceasar Gleebek’s book,with it’s cover depicting Jimi as a clown responsible for his own death,coupled with the most revelatory posts on the internet about the events of September 18,1970 will make for an interesting combination of words thought and actions which will hopefully produce justice in this matter.

I’ve gotten deeper into this since I last posted. There actually is good forensic evidence to get us past the “we will never know” point. Stella Douglas said Jimi felt guilty for not eating the oriental food Stella had bought for him at Kameron’s party. So she said Jimi came into the kitchen and gobbled down a large helping of the mostly rice meal just prior to leaving. This was 2:45 to 3am.
Dr Rufus Crompton of the London’s Coroner’s Office was the successor to Dr Donald Teare, the man who did Jimi’s autopsy. When Kathy Etchingham tried to re-open the case Scotland Yard got Dr Crompton to re-examine Dr Teare’s original autopsy sheets for Jimi. Dr Crompton told Scotland Yard that Jimi died no later than 5:30am because of the undigested rice grains found in his stomach at autopsy. Forensic doctors who examined Jimi’s case said the undigested rice is not hard forensic evidence since digestion times can be variable. However in this case Monika’s story to the Inquest claimed Jimi took no pills until after 7am. So we are left with two options. The first is Monika’s story that would allow at least 4 hours of digestion before any barbiturates were introduced to possibly affect digestion. Since the stomach clears its contents in an average of four hours it would be unlikely for there to be so much remarkable undigested rice in Jimi’s stomach according to the Inquest’s own scenario. Not only that but Jimi also had another 4.5 hours of digestion beyond that up to the alleged 11:45am time of death told to the Inquest by Monika. The official story allows for almost 9 hours of digestion of the rice before death. While forensic doctors casually say digestion is too variable, if we look closer at this case the claim that Jimi would have noticeable undigested rice in his stomach after 9 hours is in the extreme outlier. Ask those same doctors how many cases they could produce showing undigested rice after 9 hours and they’ll tell you it is in the extreme. The autopsy said Jimi’s organs were exceptionally healthy. I suggest his digestion was similar.
The second option is the one that fits the evidence. In this scenario Jimi takes 9 Vesparax barbiturates somewhere around 3:30am. The Vesparax manufacturer’s product information says Vesparax can reach peak saturation in only an hour. I made a typo above. The blood barbiturate was .7mg not the 3.9 I posted. It is possible that Jimi only had the Vesparax in him for 1 hour, however the evidence shows it was more likely 1.5 to 2. Meanwhile the Inquest claimed Jimi had an alcohol/barbiturate reaction and choked on his own vomit because of it. However the autopsy blood alcohol content reading is very clear, Jimi only had a 5mg blood alcohol content (BAC). 5mg is the equivalent of only a gulp of beer. It wasn’t enough to cause any drug conflict vomiting reaction. Especially since Jimi had a notorious tolerance for secobarbital that would put him on the safe side of what the manufacturer listed as a “borderline” lethal dose of 9-10 tablets. Dr Crompton was absolutely right and the forensics put his estimation in the 99 percentile according to the undigested rice. Doctors who simply say digestion is too uncertain to use for precise forensics are ignoring the qualifying facts that put their dismissal in the 1 percent range. People, Jimi’s tolerance for secobarbital would not allow him to die from a ‘borderline’ lethal dose in only two hours. A survey of Vesparax drug overdoses showed that overdose victims who took a similar dose never died in less than 4 hours. This is all moot however because the evidence firmly shows Jimi died from being drowned in a large volume of wine after being intentionally overdosed in order to incapacitate him. A covert type of murder method that his manager Michael Jeffery would have been trained in as an MI-6 member.

My friend and I looked at this during the period of 2011-2012 as well. We always felt if you locate Michael Jeffrey’s wife the actress, Gillian French (source her real name) you will potentially find more truths.. after all she would have been a beneficiary of the insurance policy. Jeffrey would have set his wife up somewhere and she obviously went to ground (no profile).
Which country had a non extradition treaty favoured by the brits ad great to disappear into during that period?

I tried to trace Ms French. She was an aspiring British actor right before she married Jeffery but then curiously completely dropped off the radar afterwards. This case is full of some begging unaccountable voids that could easily be filled by simple government/media inquiry but are not. The British treat information access to locate people as some kind of extreme offense that needs to be guarded against. It sort of suggests a mutual protection that doesn’t bode well. What would a person who was married to Michael Jeffery, and therefore probably fully aware of his relationship to Jimi’s death and its danger, do?
Jeffery belonged to a group that defies international borders and treaties. British Intelligence could hide Jeffery anywhere if they wanted because the countries that would be doing the extradition are the same ones who are covering up the murder. Dominating western governments are very effective covert murder organizations.

With everything that points to jimi being murdered, one of the pertinent tangible questions becomes, ” What became of Gillian French”? Where was she living in 1971, did she change her name, etc..? Wonder if anyone has “spoken” to stepsister Janie……
